What is the Church of God of Prophecy?

The Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP) is a Christ-exalting, Spirit-filled, holiness Christian movement made up of churches in many nations. Our desire is simple: to know Jesus, live out His Word, and share His love with others.

Here in Melksham, we are focused on strengthening our community and helping people grow in Love, Peace, Joy, and Faith. You don’t need to “have it all together” to attend — come as you are, and you’ll be welcomed.

Our vision and mission

Our Vision:
To see people reconciled to God through Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our Mission:
COGOP is a disciple-making and church-planting movement with a passion for Christian unity — raising up believers who live for Christ and serve their communities.

What we believe

COGOP is built on the belief in “the whole Bible rightly divided,” and we look to Scripture as our guide for faith and life.

In summary, we believe:

  • The Bible is God’s inspired Word and our authority for faith and practice.
  • One God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • Jesus Christ is Lord: His life, death, resurrection, and promised return are at the centre of our hope.
  • We depend on the Holy Spirit for transformed lives, spiritual growth, and power to witness.

A little history

COGOP’s roots trace back to a spiritual renewal movement in the early 1900s, with key beginnings recorded in 1902 and growth into an international church family over time.

Our heart for Melksham

We believe the church should be a blessing to its town — not just on Sundays, but throughout the week. That’s why we are committed to:

  • Building genuine community and friendship
  • Supporting families and individuals in prayer
  • Encouraging people to grow in faith and purpose
  • Creating a welcoming place where people can encounter God
